French Language and Culture Center

The French Language and Culture Center of AUL established in February 5, 2020. The head of the French Language and Culture Center is Asgar Zeynalov, and the chief specialist is Jamila Khaspolatova. Since its establishment, the French Language and Culture Center has set itself the following tasks:

to improve students' expression and communication skills in French;

to provide teachers and students with pedagogical resources;

to use innovative, motivating and new lesson development materials (for example: new reference books, access to didactic databases), didactic live devices (video conferencing, e-books, internet exercises, language laboratories);

to organize classes in various fields with the participation of French teachers invited from France;

to inform French-speaking teachers and students of the university about conferences, events and scholarship programs organized in French-speaking countries;

In the center, all students and teachers of our University have the opportunity to freely work with various sources (books, magazines, textbooks and dictionaries) in French. The Center for French Language and Culture has participated in many French-language projects. In order to cover a wider scale of the exchange of teachers, specialists in various fields were invited from abroad, and teachers and students of AUL actively participated in their training.

The head of the Center, Doctor of Philology, Professor Asgar Zeynalov worked as a translator from armenian in various government departments during the investigation of Armenian hostages and terrorists in 2020-2021. A. Zeynalov sent letters to various French government agencies regarding the needs of the time (2021), as well as published a series of articles in the “Respublika” newspaper regarding the Patriotic War. He held an event on the Khojaly tragedy (February 28, 2021) and on the Khojaly tragedy together with the French Language Department under the Faculty of International Relations.

The French Language and Culture, Francophonie Center held an event in French on the topic “Shusha Intellectuals and France” together with the Foreign Languages ​​Department under the Faculty of Education-2. (April 29, 2021)

Prof. A. Zeynalov gave a speech on the topic "Turkish-Hun in French literature" at the conference held in Nijde, Turkey, and became the chairman of the department. (June 3-5, 2021)

On November 3, 2021, an event dedicated to the Victory Day, called "My heart goes from Karabakh", was held at the French Language and Culture, Francophonie Center and Education-2 faculty, together with the Department of Foreign Languages. On October 29, 2021, he was the chairman of the section at the International Conference on the Patriotic War held at AUL and gave an extensive speech on the topic of “Biased Interviews and Harsh Answers”.

Every year, on the occasion of the “International French Language Teachers’ Day”, the French Language and Culture Center holds cultural events with the participation of all French-speaking students and teachers. On November 26, 2021, the French Language and Culture, Francophonie Center held a large event on the occasion of the “International French Language Teachers’ Day”. In addition to the teachers of the Translation Faculty of AUL, representatives of the French Embassy in Azerbaijan, Jonathan Hakan Unlu and Elisabeth Juste, participated in the event.

On December 15, 2021, the French Language and Culture Department, together with the Francophonie Center and the Master's Department, held an event on the topic of "Victor Hugo's Creativity and Problems".

From February 23 to April 29, 2022, conversation clubs were held for teachers and students led by French language teacher Elizabeth Justen, organized jointly with the Center for Francophonie and the Center for French Language and Culture. On March 4, 2022, a seminar dedicated to "8th of March - International Women's Day" was held at the initiative of the Francophonie Center, the French Language and Culture Center.

On March 18, 2022, an event dedicated to the 220th anniversary of the great French writer Victor Hugo was held, organized by the French Language and Culture Department, in collaboration with the Francophonie Center.

The Center for French Language and Culture holds many competitions and contests among students every year within the framework of Francophonie weeks. April 1, 2022 - A competition on the theme of “French and Azerbaijani Culture” was held within the framework of Francophonie weeks, organized by the Francophonie Center. April 27, 2022 - The “European Poetry Night” event, jointly prepared by the Department of Foreign Languages ​​under the Faculty of French Language and Culture, Francophonie Center and Education-2, was held.
