On October 19, a Greek Studies and Culture Center was inaugurated at the Azerbaijan University of Languages (ADU). The opening ceremony was attended by Nikolaos Piperigos, the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Greece to Azerbaijan; Vasile Soare, the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Romania to Azerbaijan; Andrew Birdy, a representative from the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan; and others. ADU’s rector, academician Kamal Abdulla, expressed his pleasure at seeing the guests at the university and spoke about the significance of the newly opened center. He noted that ADU has close cooperation with a number of prestigious higher education institutions worldwide: “Today is a significant day in the life of our university. Every Azerbaijani has a great love for the history and culture of Greece. I believe that our students and faculty will become regular members of this center, and it will further increase their love for Greece.” The extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Greece to Azerbaijan, Nikolaos Piperigos, thanked the rector and emphasized his confidence in the future development of relations between Azerbaijan and Greece. He noted that the scientific, cultural, and political development of relations is increasing every day: “I express my gratitude for your attention and the warm meeting. I believe that this center will be beneficial to students and faculty, contributing to their research work. The opening of the Greek Studies and Culture Center at the Azerbaijan University of Languages gives us grounds to say that the center's services will be utilized by the university's students specializing in Greece and other European countries, as well as those interested in Azerbaijan-Greece relations.
