ADU's Caliph-Rector met with the Charge d'Affaires of the Venezuelan Embassy in Azerbaijan.

On December 13, the "One-Day Caliph" Student Self-Government Day was held at Azerbaijan University of Languages (ADU). The "One-Day Caliph" project, initiated by ADU's rector, academician Kamal Abdulla, allows students to manage the university’s leadership structures for one day.

During that day, the decisions made by the students holding leadership positions have full legal force. Those holding positions receive the daily salary for the duties they perform. The students holding positions form the university’s "Shadow Cabinet," which continues its activities until the next "Caliph Day." All students and graduate students of the university can participate in the project. The students chosen to hold these positions are selected through an open voting process organized in the university's Hall of Events.

As part of the project, ADU's caliph-rector Salman Quliyev met with the Charge d'Affaires of the Venezuelan Embassy in Azerbaijan, Pedro Flores.

Quliyev expressed his pleasure at hosting the guest at the university. The Caliph-rector spoke about the "One-Day Caliph" project and conveyed academician Kamal Abdulla’s greetings to the Charge d'Affaires. Quliyev provided information about the university and discussed the high level of Spanish language teaching at the university and the activities of the Spanish Language Center. He also mentioned the existing ties between ADU and universities in Spain and Argentina and expressed his hope that similar connections would be established with Venezuela.

Pedro Flores thanked the university for the warm reception and expressed his happiness to be at the university. He spoke positively about the "One-Day Caliph" project, highlighting the importance of student involvement in university management. Flores also praised the teaching of the Spanish language at ADU and expressed interest in collaborating with the university.

Following the meeting, discussions were held on future cooperation and student exchange.

The meeting was also attended by the Caliph-Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Elshad Ibadzade, the Caliph-Vice Rector for International Relations Diana Seyidova, and the Caliph-Director of the Spanish Language Center Cahandar Aliyev.

Afterward, Pedro Flores, the Charge d'Affaires, delivered a lecture to students as part of ADU's "Ambassador Hour" club.

It is worth noting that within the framework of the project, organized by the university's language and culture centers, events were held on topics such as “Relations Between Azerbaijan and Serbia,” “Business and Tourism in India,” “Rising Sun Country – Japan,” “Let’s Know Romania and Introduce It,” “Introducing Korea and New Year in Korea,” “Austria’s Culture Nowadays,” as well as film screenings in various languages and meetings with “Russian Language Ambassadors” from around the world.
