Awareness Event on Types of Violence and Domestic Violence Held at ADU

On March 11, 2025, an awareness event on types of violence and domestic violence was held at Azerbaijan University of Languages (ADU). The event was jointly organized by the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, ADU’s Strategic Development and Planning Department, and ADU’s Quality Assurance Department.

The event was opened with a speech by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, who emphasized the importance of the topic and the necessity of strengthening efforts to combat violence. From the Committee, Vafa Alekbarova, Head of the Sector for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, and Rahil Suleyman-zade, Chief Advisor of the Legal Support Department’s Domestic Violence Prevention Sector, delivered speeches.

The main objective of the event was to raise awareness about different forms of violence, particularly domestic violence, promote preventive measures, and provide students with legal knowledge on the issue. Students majoring in Philology and International Relations participated in the event, where various types of violence—including psychological, physical, and economic violence—were discussed in detail.

Experts speaking at the event highlighted the impact of violence on individuals and society, existing legislation, and available support mechanisms. Students actively participated in discussions by asking questions and analyzing real-life situations to explore possible solutions.

Such events play a crucial role in strengthening efforts to combat violence and increasing awareness among young people.
