ABOUT US

By the decision No. 100 of the meeting of the Academic Board of Azerbaijan University of Languages dated July 1, 2009, the department "Innovations in Teaching and further education" was established. In continuation of the structural reforms carried out at AUL, the department has been renamed "Innovations in Teaching" since December 3, 2013 (Order No. 1/318). In 2009-2011, the department was headed by associate professor Shiraliev Amrali Shirali oglu. From December 10, 2011 (Order No. 1/188) the department is headed by Doctor of Philological Sciences, associate professor Aytan Bayramova. Currently, the department of "Innovations in Teaching" functions within the School of Education 2.

OUR MISSION

To study the global scientific and pedagogical innovations in the education system, to apply the innovations to the teaching-learning process, to serve the development of higher and secondary education in the republic.

GOALS AND OBLIGATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF INNOVATIONS IN TEACHING

To investigate the scientific and pedagogical needs and provide services to educational institutions in the field of educational activity;
To take an active participation in the preparation of perspective directions in the field of pedagogical innovations, scientific and pedagogical studies;
To organize conferences, seminars, webinars, trainings, and other scientific-organizational events for pedagogical staff, leaders and other specialists;
To establish relations of coordination and cooperation with scientific and innovative centers operating in foreign countries;
To actively participate in the activity of scientific and pedagogical provision of innovative processes in the education system and renewal and improvement of higher and secondary education in the republic (at the request of the governing bodies);
To attract teaching staff to innovative projects and programs conducted in the country and abroad.

ACADEMIC WRITING AND READING CENTER

According to the order No. 112 of AUL dated September 17, 2009, the "Academic writing and reading" center fuctiond within the "Innovations in Teaching" department. The center is headed by Ph.D. in Philology, associate professor Gurbanova Sevil Elchin.

The main obligations of the center:

• to prepare the work plan of the center's activity;

• to organize events aimed at improving the activity of the center;

• to organize training programs;

• to provide motivation and recommendation letters to the undergraduate, graduate and staff for the purpose of participation in exchange programs;

• to regularly organize meetings with students;

• to organize essay competitions among students;

• to organize seminars related to the activities of the center;

• to prepare programs and teaching aids in accordance with the activities of the center;

• to organize "round tables" on "causes of plagiarism in academic writing and ways to eliminate it" and other relevant topics.

The staff of the department regularly participate in national and international conferences, forums, seminars, webinars and discussions; they publish theses, articles, programs, textbooks, and monographs.

EXTERNAL COLLABORATION

The teaching staff of the "Innovation in Teaching" department cooperates with the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Examination Center, the Commission for the Recruitment of Teachers, British Council Azerbaijan, as well as the universities of Essex and Glasgow in the UK, Pitesti University of Romania and Kiev National Linguistic University in order to improve the quality of teaching provided.
