Aynur Budagova was born in the capital city Baku of the Azerbaijan Republic. She is a citizen of Azerbaijan and of Azerbaijani nationality. From 1997 to 2005, she pursued higher education at Azerbaijan University of Languages. Completing both her bachelor's and master's degrees, she graduated from the same university, AUL.
Between 2010 and 2015, she worked as a teacher and a doctoral researcher at the Department of Linguoculturology of Azerbaijan University of Languages. She successfully defended her dissertation entitled “A Functional Study of English-Language Media Texts” in the specialty 5708.01 – Germanic Languages, and in 2020, she was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Philology. In January 2024, she was granted the academic title of Associate Professor in the same specialty.
Since 2002, A.M. Budagova has worked at Azerbaijan University of Languages in various positions related to her fields of study (Philology – English Language and Linguistics), including a senior laboratory assistant, lecturer, senior lecturer, English language instructor for SABAH groups, and from 2018 to 2022, as the head of the SABAH Center at AUL within the framework of a pilot project by the Ministry of Science and Education.
Currently, in addition to serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Philology at AUL, she continues her academic and pedagogical activities as a senior lecturer at the Department of Methodology of Teaching Foreign Languages under the same faculty, holding a PhD in Philology and the academic title of Associate Professor.
A.M. Budagova is regularly engaged in scientific research, delivering presentations at national and international scientific conferences. She has participated in several prestigious international training programs in her field, earning certifications such as CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults), TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test – all modules), TESOL/TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), USA-OPEN MOOCs, Harvard University's Online Leadership Training Program, International Internship University, the Mentor Development Program, and other professional development courses.
In May 2023, she was awarded a grant under the Erasmus+ program and completed a practical training placement at the University of Murcia in Spain as part of an academic exchange program. At the same time, she was awarded several certificates and letters of appreciation for her active participation in various events and training programs organized by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Azerbaijan Republic.
During the 2023–2024 academic year, within the framework of the SABAH groups project which is run under the authority of the Quality Assurance Agency in Education, she participated in organizing a commission for lesson observations aimed at monitoring the quality of English language instruction at Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) and Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU). She was involved in the preparation of the relevant documents, and the leadership of the commission was entrusted to Associate Professor A.M. Budagova.
A.M. Budagova is the author of several textbooks and course syllabi, as well as nearly 30 scientific articles have been published both in the native country, Azerbaijan and overseas.
