International relations and regional studies
By the decision of the meeting of the Academic Council of the Azerbaijan University of Languages on September 7, 2001 and by the order of the rector of October 19, 2001, the faculty of "European Studies and International Relations" was established. Initially, the faculty was assigned the departments "Western Studies", "History", "Mathematics and Informatics", "Dictionary of the English Language and Regional Studies". In order to increase the potential of the faculty, as well as the potential for further education, in October 2001, the departments "Italian and Spanish" and "International Relations" were opened, respectively.
In the 2000-2001 academic year, 47 students were admitted to the specialty "European Studies" in English. Of these, 29 studied in Azerbaijani and 18 - in Russian departments. From the 2001-2002 academic year, admission to the faculty was increased and in the specialties "European Studies" were conducted in English, German and French, and 31 students were admitted in the direction of "International Relations". In total, 79 students were admitted to the faculty for the specified academic year. In the 2002-2003 academic year, 47 students were admitted in the direction of "European Studies" and 20 in the direction of "International Relations". In the 2003-2004 academic year, 46 people were admitted in all three areas in the specialty "European Studies", in the specialty "International Relations" - 20 people. In addition to the above specialties, 29 students were admitted to the newly created specialty "American Studies". Thus, during its creation at the faculty, 288 students studied in three specialties in the first four years.
In the 2009-2010 academic year, the master's degree - the second stage of higher education - began to occupy a special place in the history of the development of the faculty. After the completion of preparatory work on the methodological and personnel support of specialty programs in the 2002-2003 academic year, admission to the magistracy began. Associate Professor Yasif Murshudov became the first dean of the faculty. From 2006 to 2013, Aliyev Majid Ibad oglu worked as the dean of the faculty. On July 5, 2013 by order No. 1/156 Nagiyev Anar Rustam oglu was elected dean of the Faculty of Regional Studies and International Relations and worked in this position until 2017. On February 22, 2017, by order No. 1/63, Hamidov Samir Sabir oglu was appointed dean of the Faculty of Regional Studies and International Relations. On December 22, 2017, by order No. 1/577, Kazymbeyli Ibrahim Feyzulla oglu was appointed dean of the faculty, elected at the elections.
In accordance with the new specialties of the faculty, in 2017 by the decision of the Academic Council of 12.09.17, the faculty was renamed the Faculty of International Relations and Management. Currently, the faculty has 20 specialties, 6 departments and 8 centers in 2 directions. Currently, the faculty has 938 students. The faculty actively participates in the multifaceted projects of the university, which are expanding every day in all international relations. The faculty organizes its work in accordance with the Action Plan of the strategic planning project for 2015-2020. The document includes the process of strategic planning of the strategic planning process of the Faculty of International Relations and Management of AUL, the State Program in Education for 2009-2013, the State Program for Informatization of Education and the State Strategy for the Development of Education, signed by President Ilham Aliyev, as well as the proposals for the preparation of the Bologna Declaration in according to the requirements. We are based on all state and government directives related to education and science. Recently, the Presidential Decree "On the State Program for Increasing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023" (November 16, 2018) was approved.
Approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 2090 dated April 16, 2007. “As a continuation of the State Program for Training Azerbaijani Youth Abroad for 2007-2015, the implementation of this new, very important State Program is included in the strategic planning of our university and faculty. We build our work in accordance with the existing documents of programs and educational policy determined by the administration of the University.
