The AUL Professor Elected to the Membership of the Academy

16 april, 2018

The Head of the Department of English Phonetics, Doctor of Sciences in Philology Professor Farman Zeynalov has been elected an academic member to the International Turkic Academy. The Diploma of academic membership and the gown of the Academy have been bestowed on the AUL professor. The publication of F.Zeynalov’s scientific findings both in our country (Language and Reality: System and Structure Relations. Baku, 1999) and abroad (A Great Azerbaijani Culture in the Light of Crystallography. The USA, Seattle, 1997; Universal Properties of the Human Language in the Light of Natural Phenomena. Canada, 2016) has evoked the interests of the linguists and philosophers. His research areas have their own theoretical basis, points of origin and peculiarities. According to this linguist-scholar, the rhythm of the universe (nature) and the fact of its variable nature in different natural-geographical areas stand on the basis of structural diversity of languages as well as on the basis of all kinds phonetic-phonological variations occuring in linguistic-speech units.

Another new feature in the professor’s researches is that he substantiated both scientifically and practically that the systematic-structural character of language has isomorphic and hereditary relations with natural objects, especially crystals and genetic code from the points of view of the principle of similar structure, function, as well as information carrier, storage and transformation.

The third new feature in F.Zeynalov’s scientific researches is that for the first time in Azerbaijani linguistics he detected structural isomorphism between the rhythmic-melodic structure of Azerbaijani expressions and the patterns and rhythmic figures in the pieces of Azerbaijani people’s culture and art (mugham, folk songs, carpets, palaz , etc).

The first reviewer of his doctoral dissertation, the Honoured scholar of the Russian Federation, well-known linguist in Phonetics and Phonology Y.A.Dubovski called Farman muellim “the father of a new theory” in his review. F.Zeynalov suggested a new theory (helio-rhythmic) and a phonetic (phonogenetic) law aimed at interpreting the structural difference of languages and substantiated them on scientific-theoretical plane.

Following his research findings F.Zeynalov comes to a conclusion that the rhythmic-melodic, as a whole, prosodic-intonation structures of languages carry important information from linguo-paleontological point of view. As, through phono-rhythmo-melodic features of languages it is possible to define which nation these or other pieces of culture, art belong to.

According to this scholar, in historical development the culturological, paremiological and other peculiarities characteristic to one people, nation were subconsciously or naturally loaded into their language and codified on a cognitive and linguistic plane.
