A scholarship, named after the National Hero of Azerbaijan Albert Agarunov, was established at AUL

On February 27, an event dedicated to the award of the scholarship, named after the National Hero of Azerbaijan Albert Agarunov was held at the Azerbaijan University of Languages, with the joint organization of the Center for Israel and the Middle East Studies  and the Department of Regional Studies for Eastern Countries.

The scholarship, allocated on the initiative of the chairman of the religious community of "Azerbaijani Mountain Jews" Milikh Evdaev, was awarded to two students with high academic performance and active participation in public work. The event was attended by the AUL  leadership of , the chairman of the religious community of "Azerbaijani Mountain Jews" Milikh Evdaev, Rabbi Abraham and students.

AUL rector, academician Kamal Abdulla,, welcoming the participants, spoke about Azerbaijani-Israeli relations. It was noted that there are close friendly and partnership relations between the two countries. These relations are also manifested in the political, economic, scientific and cultural spheres: "Today is a significant day. Our students were awarded a scholarship named after Albert Agarunov, the national hero of Azerbaijan, the shehid of the First Karabakh War, of Jewish origin. This is a very important event. The peoples of Azerbaijan and Israel have been living in a spirit of respect and admiration for multicultural values for many years. The multicultural atmosphere prevailing in Azerbaijan should become an example for the whole world." Chairman of the religious community "Azerbaijani Mountain Jews" Milikh Evdaev thanked for the warm welcome and kind words. It was noted that the established scholarship will become an additional incentive and motivation for AUL students: "The scholarship named after the national hero of Azerbaijan Albert Agarunov is also an example of our unity, friendship and partnership."

Vice-Rector for International Relations of AUL, Associate Professor Zhalya Garibova shared her opinion, she noted that in terms of improving and developing the scientific abilities of students, the establishment of such scholarships is very significant.

Then the Albert Agarunov scholarship was awarded to a second-year student of Israeli studies - Agazade Rauf Vugar oglu and a third-year student of Israeli studies - Zeynalov Shahnazar Elyar oglu.
