Round-Table on the 31st March, the Day of-Genocide of Azerbaijanis at Azerbaijan University of Languages

On March 28, a Round-Table was held on the “31st March -Genocide of the Azerbaijanis” by the initiative of the Faculty of International Relations and Management of Azerbaijan University of Languages.

Associate-professor İbrahim Kazımbeyli, dean of the faculty, gave information about the 31st March-Genocide of Azerbaijanis. He spoke about the goals and results of the massacre committed by the Baku Soviet and Dashnak armed groups against the Azerbaijanis on March 30 and April 3, 1918, in Baku and in different gubernias of Azerbaijan, in Shamakhi, Guba, Khachmaz, Lankaran, Hajigabul, Salyan, Zangezur, Garabagh, Nakhchivan and others. Ibrahim Kazimbeyli noted that the instruction of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydər Əliyev signed on March 26, 1998, on the 80th anniversary of the events of March 1918, was the first political assessment of the actions of the Armenian nationalists. He said that this political-legal assessment plays an important role in reflecting the true sides of tragedies committed against our people, and now other states are aware of these historical and political events.

Şəfəq Abdullayeva, associate-professor of the Chair of Philosophy and Social Sciences, Samirə İmanova, associate-professor of the Chair of International Relations, Xatirə Hacıyeva and Şəlalə Bağırova, associate-professors of the Chair of the Caucasian Studies, Elşən Məcidov, teacher of the Chair of Regional Studies, made speeches on “the Challenges and Perspectives for Identifying the events of  31st of March in the International Arena”, “Shedding light on the events of the 31st of March in media”, “International recognition of the genocide policy  against the Azerbaijanis”, “Genocide committed by the Armenians in Irevan”, “Social results of Genocide of March 1918”.

Şəhla Nağıyeva, associate-professor of the Chair of Literature of Foreign Countries displayed a video on the genocide.

The round-table ended with discussions.
