Rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages Academician Kamal Abdulla Received the Ambassador of Austria to Azerbaijan

Rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages Academician Kamal Abdulla Received the newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Austria to Azerbaijan Bernd Alexander Bayerl.

Rector Kamal Abdulla said that he was pleased to see the Ambassador at the University. He mentioned that there are many centres of language and culture at the University and mentioned particularly the activity of the library in the Austrian Centre. He expressed his satisfaction with the library, which was enriched and developed regularly. It has about seven hundred subscribers of the library and attracts the attention of not only the staff and students of the University, but also that of other persons.

Kamal Abdulla said that he remembers the discussion of the German translation of his novel "The Unfinished Manuscript" in Graz. He pointed out the importance of the support of the Ambassador in the establishment of the relations with the universities of Austria.

The rector informed the ambassador about the project called «Ambassador's hour" at Azerbaijan University of Languages and invited him to take part in the project.

He also spoke about the policy of multiculturalism in Azerbaijan and the possibility of cooperation in that sphere, too. Speaking about the multicultural environment in Azerbaijan, he stressed that "Azerbaijani multiculturalism" is being taught in many countries as a discipline.

The ambassador thanked for the warm reception and expressed his satisfaction with the development of relations in the sphere of science and education between Azerbaijan and Austria. Ambassador B.A.Bayerl emphasized the importance of cooperation, propagation of languages. He said that the existence of the Austrian libraries was an important factor in the development of relations in the sphere of education. Ambassador B.A.Bayerl expressed his gratitude to rector Kamal Abdulla for his support to the development of relations in the sphere of education.

Then they discussed the issues of mutual cooperation, in-sevice training of teachers and exchange of students, translation of textbooks and articles, joint projects, the Bologna process and others.
