On January 23, 2019, rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages Academician Kamal Abdulla met Guner Gursoy, assistant of the rector of Istanbul Okan University and Sanam Acabay, director of the Office of International Relations of the University. Academician Kamal Abdulla expressed his pleasure to see guests at the University. He said that the University has a 70 year history and many languages are taught there. He added that there are about twenty cultural and language centres. He spoke about the international relations of Azerbaijan University of Languages and noted that languages are taught by native and foreign teachers. He mentioned the research laboratories of the University, as well as, the centres of the Azerbaijani language and culture functioning in many foreign universities within the framework of international relations. Academician Kamal Abdulla spoke about the multicultural environment in Azerbaijan and emphasized the measures taken by the government in this sphere particularly. Assistant of the rector of Istanbul Okan University Guner Gursoy thanked the administration of the University for the sincere reception and said that Baku is constantly developing and he admired the beauty of the city. He said that there are ten faculties and twenty six thousand students in Istanbul Okan University. He spoke about the Faculty of Translation and said that there are similarities between the two universities in this field. Later they discussed such issues as mutual cooperation, future perspectives and in-service of the teachers and students.
