A Research-Methodological Seminar on the topic “Qualification Examination for the Oriental Languages" was held at the Institute of Confucius functioning at Azerbaijan University of Languages with the support of the Chair of Foreign Languages of the Faculty of International Relations and Management. Professor Rafig Abbasov, director of the Confucius Institute, at his opening speech spoke about the function of the official Chinese Language Testing Centre where Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) and Hanyu Shuiping Kouyu Kaoshi (HSKK) examinations are held.  He also noted that the successful examinations in HSK and HSKK and acquisition of international certificates will enable the young people to get scholarships in the People's Republic of China. Li Changyong, teacher of Confucius Institute, introduced the content of examinations, listening, reading, grammatical structures as well as the basic writing rules of words and hieroglyphs to the participants. She also noted that the examination, which consisted of several levels, was a standard qualification exam for those who cannot speak Chinese. Saida Mirzayeva, head of the Center for the Hindi Language and Culture and Rupali Sinha, teacher of the said centre, Yashar Ibrahimov, head of the Japanese Centre, Emilia Khudiyeva, director of the Israeli and Near East Studies Centre talked about the features of qualification examinations, which determines the knowledge of the language and its levels in official organizations of respective countries. At the end of the seminar the participants exchanged views on the introduction of innovative methodologies in teaching the Oriental languages.
