On october 10, a joint round table on “Protection of cultural heritage of Azerbaijan” was held at the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), organized by the Regional Studies Department and the Azerbaijan Research Laboratory.

The Dean noted with regret that Azerbaijan lost its territorical integrity as a result of the aggressive policy and as a result some of our cultural monuments were destroyed. However, due to our state policy, significant steps have been taken to preserve our cultural heritage and put it on the list of world cultural heritage.

Associate Professor Sevdagul Aliyeva and head teacher of the department Rena Rajabli made a presentation on this topic. It was noted that Azerbaijan has a rich cultural heritage and a number of cultural and material cultural monuments of Azerbaijan are protected by UNESCO as the highest values of humanity. Icheri Sheher, Maiden Tower and Shirvanshahs Palace Complex are included in UNESCO World Heritage List, Azerbaijani mugham, carpet weaving art, ashug art and Novruz holiday are included in the Non-material Cultural Heritage List.
