On December 27, the 50th anniversary of the Department of Translation (present  the Department of English Translation) of Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) was held. First of all, video footage reflecting the activity of the department, faculty achievements, and the names of the works which have been translated by professional translators was shown. Afgan Abdullayev, the acting rector of AUL said that the mission of the department is hard work of translation requires time and the power. He expressed that the department never hesitated in taking the necessary work associated with the translation and always was an example for its activities. Noting that the employees of the department have the vital work in the formation of highly educated experts thanks to the capable of teaching methods A.Abdullayev stressed that many well-known publications were translated with their participation. A.Abdullayev said that the work of translation is fine art and congratulated the perpetrators of the department in the hope of to continue their mission for many years. Gilinchkhan Bayramov spoke about the establishment history of the department  and that  the first department of Translation in the Republic was opened  according to the decision  of  the Committee and  the report on " Improvement  of the Translation "  of   the Central Committee of the Communist Party secretary for ideology Shikhali Gurbanov  in  1966 . Speaking about the first head of the department and his invaluable activities Ismikhan Rahimov , G.Bayramov  noted the names of the people who headed this department in various years. G.Bayramov  spokea bout the  contribution of  department in the training of hig level specialists  and gave his recommendations. Later, the dean of the School of Translation, associate professor Vilayat Guliyev, associate professor of the department of English language, poet and translator Sabir Mustafa, founder and rectorof Khazar University, Hamlet Isakhanli, the head of the department of literature of foreign countries, Professor Aynur Sabitova  spoke about services of the department in translation, the development of this industry in the country and partices in the translation processes  and delivered their congratulation. The event concluded with the sounding of the proposals.
