A counselor at the US Embassy visited AUL

On May 25, the acting rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), Professor Afgan Abdullayev met with Amy Peterson, counselor for cultural affairs of the United States Embassy.

Welcoming the guest, the professor said he was pleased to see her at the university. There are long-standing ties between the University and the US Embassy, and in cooperation a number of different event were held, he said. Professor Abdullayev spoke about the event that will be held on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the founding of the American Center and expressed confidence that this program will be of interest. He said: "Ten years is equal to the work done in many decades," saying he hoped to continue the successful cooperation with the American Center.

Expressing her gratitude for warm reception, E.Peterson said she was pleased of long-term cooperation between the Embassy and AUL. Baku American Center doesn’t function only in Azerbaijan, but it is functioning in various parts of the world, she said. Within the framework of cooperation between the Embassy and the university a group of students come to the University to study Azerbaijan and Turkish languages from prestigious universities in the United States each year, E.Peterson said. She thanked the management of the University for hosting this program.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on the prospects for future cooperation, and the implementation of joint projects.
