Rector of AUL Kamal Abdulla met with the delegation of the Council of Europe

Rector of the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), Active member of ANAS Kamal Abdulla met with a delegation led by Reinis Aboltins, member of the Council of Europe Advisory Committee for the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities, on July 7.

Welcoming the guests, the rector said that they believe the days spent in Azerbaijan are effective. He noted that Azerbaijan is a multicultural country: "As a Azerbaijan we are proud that we have ensured harmonic harmony of diversity in our country".

Speaking about the historical roots of multiculturalism in Azerbaijan, the rector characterized multicultural relations as the result of the internal essence of the people living here. K.Abdulla presented the guests with the book "Literary and Artistic Resources of Azerbaijani Multiculturalism": "This book proves that in Azerbaijan there was a multicultural outlook, multicultural spirit".

Speaking about the work done at the university, the rector said that the Caucasian Studies Department was created here. He added that if someone intends to learn something in the Caucasus tomorrow, he will not be hindered by it: "As AUL, we see our mission in learning different languages around the world. Azerbaijani universities should reflect the panorama of world languages. " K.Abdulla said that in this process the specialists of different languages are expected to collaborate with those languages.

Rector of AUL emphasized the importance of putting questions into account when considering national minorities. According to him, the first sign of this particularity is that Azerbaijan has gained its independence for only 26 years: "But one thing you have to know is that we have internal confidence and enthusiasm to do this".

Members of the Advisory Committee on Slovenia Petra Roter, "Whom do national minorities address to their problems?" K.Abdulla responded: "To the Azerbaijani state. The Azerbaijani state is not a state of majority or minority, but a state of all Azerbaijani citizens ".

During the meeting, P.Roter briefed on the mission. He stressed that K.Abdulla has great experience in multiculturalism and was interested in Baku Multicultural Center's activities. Speaking about the work done in Azerbaijan, the guest emphasized that people living in many mixed families in our country can preserve their ethnic identity.

A member of the Latvian Advisory Committee, Reinis Aboltnis, has been interested in the Caucasus Studies specialty and has suggested that the relevant agencies should use the AUL help in preparing statistical data on multiple identities. Responding to him, the rector K.Abdulla said that this proposal could be taken into consideration.

Brigitte Bush, a member of the Advisory Committee for Austria, was interested in more linguistic issues and spoke about Azerbaijan's achievements in maintaining national identity. He added that maintaining this specificity is of great importance.

At the end of the meeting,K.Abdulla invited Brigitte Bush to read a lecture on Linguistics at AUL.
