10 july, 2017

Rector of the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), the active member of ANAS Kamal Abdulla met with Romania's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Dan Ianku on July 10.

Greeting the guest, the rector K.Abdulla gave detailed information about AUL and spoke about the languages and culture centers operating here. "I am very glad that the Romanian culture, language and literature will find their students in the near future," he said, adding that the opening of the Center for Azerbaijani Language and Culture in Romania may be carried out simultaneously with the opening of the Romanian Language and Culture Center for the first time in Azerbaijan.

K.Abdulla said that in some countries there are centers for studying Turkish language and culture, they do not need to study the Azerbaijani language and culture independently: "I suppose that the Independent Azerbaijani Language and Culture Center is a factor not only for the benefit of Azerbaijan but also for the benefit of Romanian society ". Speaking about the presence of a relevant center in one of the Romanian universities and the importance of teaching "Azerbaijan's multiculturalism", Abdulla said the Romanian Language and Culture Center, which will start functioning here, will also help to strengthen the imagination of this country. He noted that the opening of this center will be completed in autumn. The rector asked the ambassador to complete the work on opening the Azerbaijani Language and Culture Center in Romania until that time. According to him, the existence of such a model is very important, because in the future in other countries the experience of opening centers will also be used. Rector K.Abdulla added that AUL is ready to support the opening of the Azerbaijani Language and Culture Center at one of the Romanian universities, to equip it with the necessary equipment and to send teachers there.

Expressing his gratitude for the warm reception, Ambassador Dan Iaunku said that he was acquainted with the creativity of K.Abdulla and said that he would learn Azerbaijani with great enthusiasm through the book "Let's Talk in Azerbaijani" translated into Romanian. The ambassador said he came to AUL as a friend and thanked for the support provided by the Romanian Language and Culture Center. He said that the Romanian side has already responded positively to the opening of a center in AUL and is currently preparing to send a teacher here. The ambassador said he was interested in the reasons why the center was not functioning at the moment. He added that the Romanian side could consider the possibility of rebuilding the center or opening a new center in another university. "I think that by establishing such centers, we can carry out the mission of opening new doors between our countries. One of our responsibilities is to expose our common values. These centers can do more than what an embassy does ".

At the end of the meeting, Abdulla invited D. Iaunku to read a lecture at the University within the framework of the Club of the Ambassador. The proposal was welcomed by the ambassador.
