A Seminar for Teachers of Eastern Languages ​​was held at Azerbaijan University of Languages ​​(AUL)

​​On January 9, a scientific-methodical seminar on "Pedagogical potential of poetry in teaching Eastern languages" was held at Confucius Institute under Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL). In his opening speech, Professor Rafig Abbasov, Director of Confucius Institute from Azerbaijan spoke about the important role of classical and contemporary Chinese poetry in teaching of a language, focusing on the methodical features of the use of poetic works for the development of basic communicative skills of the students majoring in Chinese studies such as reading, listening, speaking. He also shared the main aspects of literary translation of poetic works in teaching  process and recited the poem "The Best father" written by Leyla Aliyeva, the  Vice-President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Ms. Li Jihua, Director of Confucius Institute from China, Saida Mirzoyeva, Head of the Center of Hindi Language and Culture, Khanim Khalilova, Japanese language teacher, and Ulviyya Huseynova, Arabic language teacher gave their speeches on the subject and emphasized the importance of the studied languages ​​in demonstrating the national characteristics of the cultures and traditions of these peoples. It was noted that poetry, one of the factors of motivation in teaching Eastern Languages, facilitates students' ability to form their language skills while participating in cultural dialogues, and makes the main aspects of speech activity easier such as, phonetics, grammar and lexis.
