Kamal Abdulla met US Deputy Chief of Mission

Rector of the Azerbaijan University of Languages, a true member of the ANAS, academician Kamal Abdulla met US Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. William Gill on May 11.

Kamal Abdulla greeted the guest and expressed his rejoice in meeting Mr. Gill at AUL. Kamal Abdulla highlighted the existence of a steady relationship between AUL and the US Embassy and expressed his belief in fostering this relationship in future.

Talking about a multicultural environment and positive attitude to people of different nationalities, Rector Kamal Abdulla stated that multicultural movement in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani model of multiculturalism has attracted our American friends’ attention. He also said “Our American friends have always contributed to the dissemination of Azerbaijani model of multiculturalism. High-quality events and conferences have been organized in different parts of the world.  Especially with the support of our American friends in different part of the world we could open an American Branch of Baku International Multiculturalism Centre in the US.

Giving information about the winter and summer schools on Multiculturalism, Kamal Abdulla emphasized American students’ active participation at these schools.

Rector  K. Abdulla also suggested organizing a round table which could involve both Azerbaijani and American professors’ contributions and participation to be held in Azerbaijan and in the USA.

US Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. William Gill thanked Rector Kamal Abdulla for his hospitality. Mr. Gill later stated that he highly appreciated a strong relationship between the Embassy and the AUL and expressed Embassy’s interest in developing these ties in future. Deputy Chief of Mission emphasized that Multiculturalism has always interested the US Government and that Azerbaijani model of Multiculturalism has proved to be valuable example in the world. He also stated that he took a positive view in organizing a round table with the participation of Azerbaijani and American scientist and said that definite steps should be taken in that regard.

Deputy Chief of Mission also emphasized the existence of a positive relationship with AUL within the frame of CLS program and expressed his interest in fostering future relationship between the two sides in that direction.
