The Center for Azerbaijani Language and Culture was opened in Hungary

On May 19, the grand opening of the Center for Azerbaijani Language and Culture took place at ELTE University in Hungary

The opening ceremony was attended by the Rector of Etvosha Laurent University (ELTE) Laszlo Borhi, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Hungary Tahir Taghizade, the Ambassador of Hungary to Azerbaijan Tamas Torma, the Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations of AUL, the Deputy of Parliament Tamam Jafarova, the Vice-Rector for International Relations of AUL Zhalya Garibova, as well as the Head of the Azerbaijani House in Hungary Ibrahim Safarli.

It was noted that the opening of the Center for Azerbaijani Language and Culture will make a positive contribution to the development of partnership relations between the two countries in the scientific, cultural, political and educational spheres.

The Rector of the University of Etvos Laurent (ELTE) Laszlo Borhi emphasized the special role of the new center in the development of cooperation with AUL. He noted that against the background of mutual relations with the Center for Hungarian Language and Culture operating at AUL, new projects and programs for the exchange of teachers and students will be implemented.

Zhalya Garibova, AUL Vice-Rector for International Relations, conveyed the greeting of AUL Rector, Academician Kamal Abdulla, and read a congratulatory speech on the occasion of the opening of the center. She stressed that the Azerbaijan University of Languages continues to actively expand international relations, and foreign centers play an important role in this process: "The opening of this center is a significant event. There are broad prospects for the study of the Azerbaijani language and culture, as well as for serious scientific research".

Zhalya Garibova expressed her gratitude to the head of the Department of Turkic Languages of the Etvosh Laurent University (ELTE), Professor Benedek Peri, for his great support in opening the center.

Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations, member of the Azerbaijan-Hungary Friendship Group, Deputy of Milli Majlis Tamam Jafarova spoke about the prospects for the rapid development of bilateral relations between the countries.

The meeting noted the existence of a strategic partnership based on friendship, mutual respect and close cooperation between Azerbaijan and Hungary. Attention is paid to active cooperation between countries in political, economic, educational and other spheres: "Interparliamentary relations have made a significant contribution to the development of bilateral relations. The opening of a new center will have a positive impact on strengthening partnership and friendship between our countries".

 

The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Hungary Tahir Taghizade, speaking about the importance of the Center for Azerbaijani Language and Culture, stressed that the development of partnerships between AUL and the University of Etvosh Laurent (ELTE) will contribute to the deepening of scientific and cultural relations between the two countries. He quoted the speech of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the meeting with the speakers of the TURKPA: "Mr. President noted that Hungary is the number one strategic partner of Azerbaijan in the European Union. Our esteemed President Ilham Aliyev said: our family is the Turkic world, we have no other family. In this sense, the opening of the center is a special political pillar."

The Ambassador noted the high scientific potential of AUL and added that the university has a favorable multicultural atmosphere, which creates opportunities for the functioning of the centers of languages and cultures of different countries.

On the initiative of AUL Rector, Academician Kamal Abdulla, the centers of Azerbaijani language and culture created in foreign universities contribute to the development of interstate relations.

At the event it was emphasized that the idea of creating language and cultural centers as a form of scientific cooperation between countries is original and significant.

The first Hungarian student educated in Azerbaijan, Professor Maria Kenesei, noted that the opening of the Center for Azerbaijani Language and Culture in Hungary is an extremely joyful event.
