ADU Staff Participates in Training Program on Dyslexia and Dyscalculia in Berlin

From October 30 to November 6, 2024, staff members from the Pedagogy Department of Azerbaijan University of Languages (ADU) – Dr.Nigar Zeynalova, Ayshan Mammadova, and Samira Hasanova – participated in a specialized training program in Berlin, Germany. The training focused on Dyslexia and Dyscalculia, and was organized by eSquare e.V. in collaboration with the Erasmus Student Network, with funding from the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the program, the participants took part in a series of seminars addressing the identification of learning difficulties, their initial diagnosis, and strategies for organizing effective pedagogical work with children facing challenges such as dyslexia and dyscalculia. This immersive experience allowed the ADU staff members to learn about best practices from a European perspective and gain valuable insights into inclusive education models.

The participants also visited inclusive schools, including "Leonardo Da Vinci Campus" and "Hermann Franke," as well as psychological centers like the "Diagnostic at ASD in Ludwigsfelde," where they observed firsthand the application of inclusive education and the integration of children with special learning needs. These site visits highlighted the significant importance that German educational institutions place on inclusivity.

Throughout the training program, the participants had the opportunity to engage in discussions with educators, therapists, and specialists on a wide range of topics related to inclusive education. These dialogues emphasized the need for dynamic, inclusive approaches that cater to the diverse needs of students.

The ADU staff is now exploring ways to apply the knowledge and experiences gathered during the trip to enhance inclusive education practices in Azerbaijan. Further discussions are underway to integrate European methodologies into local educational systems, with the aim of fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
