  1. History

In order to improve the internal quality of the Azerbaijan University of Languages, a Social Research Center was established in 2005. In 2006, it continued to operate independently as the Quality Assurance Department and in 2011 as the Quality Assurance Center. In 2012, the center operated as a Quality Assurance Department under the Education Department.

As a result, of structural changes, the Department started functioning as a Knowledge Assessment and Monitoring Centre under the Curriculum and Quality Control Department in November 2016, and from October 2017, it continued its activities under the name Knowledge Assessment, Monitoring and Quality Assurance Department.

Since November 2019, it has been operating as the Quality Assurance and Monitoring Department.

 

  1. Policy of the depar­tment

The working principle of the Quality Assurance and Monitoring Department has been summarized with reference to the Standards for Internal Quality Assurance set out in the Quality Assurance Standards and Guidelines (ESG) in the European Higher Education Area.

The main activities of the department of Quality Assurance and Monitoring are as follows:

Checking and monitoring of legal and normative documents based on standards for deans and their departments operating at the University;

Checking of curricula, syllabi, the annual staff training plans of teachers, individual plans of students, transfer of analytical data to relevant institutions and analysis of results;

Procedures for conducting classes, conducting general university assessment surveys on subjects in order to measure the quality of education and mutual analysis of the results with relevant institutions;

Conducting student-teacher, student self-assessment surveys, preparation of reports, preparation and implementation of measures based on the obtained results;

Supervising the process of preparation of students for the exam session, checking and monitoring the compliance of exam questions with the relevant subject syllabi by the relevant departments;

Creating a fertile environment for the high development of teaching staff and changing controls to meet their needs.

The Quality Assurance and Monitoring Department fulfills its obligations in the European Higher Education Area based on the principles of Quality Assurance and in the following areas of activity. The quality assurance and monitoring process takes place as follows:

  1. Our quality system

The quality assurance policy of the Azerbaijan University of Languages ​​is based on ensuring the quality of education and continuous development in accordance with the goals of the University's Strategic Development Plan. The policy of the quality assurance and monitoring department, taking into account the quality assurance policy of the University, reflects the principles of establishing an education system based on the laws and regulations of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, control over the development of domestic and international competitiveness.

  1. Internal quality assurance

The main purpose of the "Quality Assurance and Monitoring" department is to ensure the quality of education at the undergraduate and graduate levels of the university, to monitor its further improvement, to provide objective assessment of knowledge and to create an effective learning environment using innovative practices for the training of academic staff in order to apply modern standards.

  1. External quality assurance

The external quality assurance of the Quality Assurance and Monitoring Department covers the principles of Quality Assurance (ENQA) in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and the external quality assurance of the department refers to the mechanism of work in the areas of activity reflected in the Policy of the Department.
