AUL hosted a meeting with a Chinese delegation, participating in the COP29 event.

On November 13, the rector of the Azerbaijan University of Languages, academician Kamal Abdulla,  met with the representatives of the delegation of China Republic, participating in the COP29 event - the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The delegation included: Deputy Mayor of Huzhou Shi Yiting, Deputy General Chairman of Parliament Lu Xiaoha, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture of the Municipal Committee Xia Wei, Director of the Huzhou Municipal Bureau of Education Chen Jianliang, Deputy Executive Director of the People's Administration of Nansun District Xiong Zhuoyue , a member of the leadership team Lu Xiaohong from the Organization Department of the Huzhou CPC Municipal Committee. Welcoming the guests, AUL rector, academician Kamal Abdulla, expressed his opinion about COP29.  He mentioned that there is great interest in the event of international importance, held in our country: “We are very pleased with your visit to Azerbaijan, where the solemn event is taking place. All of us watched the opening ceremony of COP29, realising the great importance of the event. We are glad to see a representative from China among the participants. The city you represent, was like home to us. Huzhou city is well-known and respected by the staff of our university. We were glad to know that after the opening of the Confucius Institute at AUL, a center representing Azerbaijani language and culture began operating at Huzhou. Expressing gratitude for the kind words and sincere wishes, AUL Rector Academician Kamal Abdulla, emphasized that he is confident in the successful continuation of cooperation between the universities of both countries. It was noted that friendly relations between AUL and the Chinese city of Huzhou will continue. Pointing out, that AUL pays great attention and interest to the Chinese language and culture, the rector spoke about various events and lectures related to the Chinese language and culture, which are often organized for students: “Our students study the Chinese language, culture, history with great interest and ,enthusiasm. The Confucius Institute, which has been operating at AUL for eight years, has carried out a number of important projects to strengthen ties with China. Azerbaijani students visited China as part of a summer school and thus had the opportunity to study the Chinese language and culture more closely. The city of Huzhou welcomed our students with special attention and care. We are proud to be friends with Hudzhou. We can also start teaching Chinese in various regions of Azerbaijan along with the government of the Huzhou city. At the same time, we can organize lectures about Azerbaijan for colleagues, working in China. Libraries and research centers can be involved in this project.” Expressing gratitude for the opinions and suggestions expressed, employees highly appreciated the perspective of a promising cooperation. Then the guests visited the Confucius Institute, operating at AUL. Director of the Confucius Institute, Professor Rafig Abbasov, informed the guests about the projects, implemented by the Institute. The meeting continued with a discussion of opportunities for further scientific cooperation and partnership.
