On September 16, 2024, at the Center for Russian Studies of the Azerbaijan University of Languages, a meeting was held with the Honorary Consul of Russia and the head of the Russian House in Trivandrum, India, Mr. Ratish Nair, on the occasion of the 555th anniversary of the trip of the Tver merchant Afanasy Nikitin to India.

In 45 days, Ratish Nair will pass the path of the Tver merchant and traveler Afanasy Nikitin, described by him in the famous book "Voyage beyond Three Seas". This year marks the 555th anniversary of the beginning of this journey, which opened India to Europeans 30 years before the Portuguese Vasco de Gama.

As part of his stay in Azerbaijan, Mr. Ratish Nair visited Shamakha, Lankaran and Baku.

The Center for Russian Studies of AUL organised a meeting with Mr. Ratish Nair with the teaching staff and students of the Faculty of International Relations and Regional Studies.

Within the framework of the event, the presentation "Voyage beyond Three Seas"with a demonstration of the film was presented.
