A new edition of the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) has been published. The book , named "Image of Azerbaijan in the English-language press in the period of independence (1993-2003)", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of great leader Heydar Aliyev, has been published by the decision of the University's Academic Council. 

The new edition, which is a collection of articles, contains a translation into Azerbaijani of publications about Azerbaijan in the English-language press in various countries in 1993-2003.

In accordance with the requirements of the time, the articles cover topics related to the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, oil and gas industry, political life, history and culture of Azerbaijan. Inaccuracies and distortions related to the events and processes mentioned in some articles are commented on in the "Notes" section. The book is intended for researchers, politicians and those interested in the history, economy, culture and international relations of Azerbaijan. The author of the idea and head of the project is AUL Rector Academician Kamal Abdulla. Executive coordinators of the project are head of AUL Scientific Center for Azerbaijani Studies, Doctor of Historical Sciences Akshin Rustamov and researcher of the Scientific Center for Azerbaijani Studies Sughra Alakbarli.
The compilers of the book are Shahla Khudiyeva, Nargiz Seidova, Aysu Huseynli, Parvana Jafarova, Roya Azizova, Irada Beylerova, Gulnar Nagiyeva, Ilaha Taghizade, Eleonora Babayeva, Sabir Aliyev, Tevekkul Zeynalli.
Agil Shahmuradov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, is the responsible editor of the project. 
The reviewers were Elshad Nasirov, head of the Heydar Aliyev State Security Academy, Solmaz Rustamova-Tohidi, chief researcher of the Scientific Center for Azerbaijani Studies, Abutalib Jalilov, head of the Slavic History Department of Baku State University.

In the preface to the book, Rector of the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), academician Kamal Abdulla noted that the book "Image of Azerbaijan in the English-language press in the period of independence", prepared at AUL and presented to the readers, contains a part of materials, published in the English-language foreign press and translated into Azerbaijani language during the presidency of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan: "It should be noted that the intensity of significant changes taking place in Azerbaijan under the leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was very high. Undoubtedly, it is impossible to cover all these materials in one book. At the same time, we believe that this project, which is the first initiative, will be continued in the future in a certain sequence, more and more new materials will be identified and presented. As the reader familiarizes himself with the book, he will witness the positive changes in the content of publications about Azerbaijan during the presidency of national leader Heydar Aliyev in the foreign press, hear the real realities of the development of the Republic».

Work on the book was not limited to translation of articles into Azerbaijani.
At the same time, inaccuracies, distortions or falsifications made by some authors trying to cover Azerbaijani realities on the pages of the press were revealed and appropriate comments were given on each of such moments, as well as on people, towns and villages related to the events and processes reflected in the materials included in the book. Based on the above, the book "Image of Azerbaijan in the English-language press in the period of independence" is an extremely useful guide for politicians, historians, regional studies, diplomats and other specialists, and can also be evaluated as a serious research work.
