AUL hosted the 3rd International Conference on Korean Studies

The opening ceremony of the 3rd International Conference on Korean Studies was held at the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL). In the beginning the national anthem of Azerbaijan was played.

AUL Rector, Academician Kamal Abdulla, spoke about the importance of holding the conference at AUL.

Rector  informed, that representatives from seven countries - Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Korea, Uzbekistan and Russia - took part in the international conference.

Kamal Abdulla noted, that organizing such conferences between nations and states is an important tool for getting to know each other better. 

The Rector thanked the management of Erciyes University of Turkey, which initiated the conference.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Azerbaijan Lee In-Young expressed his satisfaction with holding the conference in our country: "Due to the dedication and efforts of the teachers and students of Korean studies, the sphere of Korean studies in Turkic-speaking countries of Central Asia, including Turkey, has expanded. The active research and development of human resources in this field can contribute to the development of Korean studies in Central Asia. At the same time, opportunities for future cooperation can be expanded through an agreement on academic cooperation in various fields. I hope that the conference on Korean studies will lead to fruitful discussions and maintain participants' interest in the Korean language and culture.

Prof. Göksel Türközü, Erciyes University, described the history of the Center for Korean Studies at Erciyes University and gave an introduction to the project. He said that the goal of the Eurasian Korean Studies Center, established in 2020, is to develop the study of Korean language in Turkey.

At the end, the organizers of the conference, as well as the management of the university, were awarded letters of thanks and diplomas.

Later, speeches and reports on various topics were heard in the work of sections.  Note that the conference will end its work on March 15.
