A meeting on the "State Program on Improving International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023" was held at AUL
On 24 February at the Azerbaijan University of Languages the Steering Group "State Program 2019-2023" under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a meeting within the framework of the "State Program on Improving International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023".
Prof. Novruz Mammadov, AUL Vice-Rector for Scientific Work, spoke about the care and attention of the state to the Azerbaijani science. It was stressed that a number of important works are carried out to train highly qualified and professional personnel. One of main goals is increasing of scientific potential of youth, giving them skills at high level.
Head of the "State Program for Improving International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023" Turan Topalova, gave the information on the programme. Issues of training of young people within the programme in foreign universities, scholarships, etc. were touched upon: "The challenges of the modern era determine the formation of the knowledge economy as a priority in our country and the development of human capital on this basis. This need makes it urgent to increase the international competitiveness of our country's higher education system. Investment in strengthening the intellectual potential of Azerbaijan in response to changes in the world system of higher education has already led to significant qualitative changes in the system of higher education and the strengthening of innovative activity.
Gunay Mustafayeva, responsible for training doctoral students abroad, shared her views on doctoral studies abroad: "The State Programme for 2019-2023" was approved by Order 711 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 16 November 2018. The implementation of the State Programme includes the establishment of international double degree programmes in local universities to modernise the content and quality of the higher education system in the country and the organisation of doctoral studies for Azerbaijani citizens in prestigious foreign universities to strengthen the academic capacity of our universities. At present time, 127 doctoral candidates are studying in 20 countries worldwide within the State Program.
Head of the Master's Studies Department Firuza Rzayeva spoke of the interest of students studying for a doctoral degree. It was noted that a number of important decisions have been made on the continuation of higher education and expansion of career opportunities.
Marketing and Communication Specialist Kenul Bedalova talked about education opportunities for youth, advantages of the state programme and continuation of doctoral studies on favourable conditions.
