A memorandum of understanding was signed between Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) and Malang Islamic University.

The Memorandum of Understanding envisages the co-operation in the field of exchange of students and pedagogical cadres, joint scientific events, preparation of scientific publications and a number of other areas.

Before the signing ceremony, the rector of AUL, academician Kamal Abdulla met with rector of the Malang Islamic University Professor H.Maskuri and university staff.

Rector K.Abdulla was glad to see the guests of AUL. He noted that AUL, which is well-known not only in Azerbaijan but also in other countries, has great potential for establishing interstate relations. Speaking about the faculties of the university, the rector talked about the languages and cultures taught here. Talking about multicultural values of Azerbaijan, where different representative of different nationalities and religious confessions settled, K.Abdulla spoke about the activities of the Scientific Research Laboratory of Multiculturalism at the University. Recalling that the subject of “Azerbaijan Multiculturalism” was taught at many foreign universities, rector K.Abdulla said that AUL was ready to cooperate with the teaching of this subject at the Islamic University of Malang.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Indonesia to Azerbaijan Husnan Fanani expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome. He said he was delighted to introduce guest from Indonesia to AUL.

Professor H.Maskuri, Rector of Malang Islamic University, expressed his happiness to be AUL. He said that Azerbaijan is developing rapidly and is morally close in terms of similarity of religious values of both countries. Rector H.Maskuri gave detailed information about the university leaded by him. He marked that the university is in the top ten because of area it situates, and it has more than thirteen thousand students. The rector talked about the activities of the university faculties where foreign students study.

H.Maskuri also mentioned the university’s important attitude to Islamic values as well as multicultural factors.

At the end, the rectors were presented gifts.
