Vice-rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages Met the Students

Vice-rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages on academic issues Professor Afgan Abdullayev met the students. The topic of the meeting was “Higher education of today: on the background of education in the USA”. The professor spoke about the path of his success from the District Yevlakh, where he was born, to the Harvard University of the USA. He spoke about the institutions where he got education, international projects, in which he took part, local and international institutions of which he was a member. He also spoke about his grants and awards. Afgan Abdullayev also spoke about his achievements, the difficulties he faced on this way to success and shared his experience which he went through when he lived abroad. Then he gave information about the USA educational system and acquainted the students with the educational institutions, general statistics of the participants. He also gave his recommendations to the students, drawing attention to the criteria for being "good students" in line with the standards. Note that Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Afgan Abdullayev worked as a laboratory assistant, lecturer, head of Laboratory of Applied Linguistics at the English Language Grammar Chair at Azerbaijan State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages in 1988-1992. In 1992-1995 she worked at Khazar University as an English teacher, advisor to the rector, head of the English Language Department, dean of the Faculty of Humanities. In 1995-2003 he studied for the MAs degree in Management of Higher Education in the USA, then in PhD program (Cognitive Linguistics). In 1998 and 2005 he was awarded the Fulbright Prize of the USA State Department and conducted researches and delivered lectures at various USA universities. He continued his education at John Kennedy School of Public Administration at Harvard University in 2000.
