A scientific seminar on “Sufism in folk poetry” was held at the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) organized by the Department of Azerbaijani Literature. The seminar held at Heydar Aliyev’s lecture hall was attended by the participation of Fikret Turkmen, professor of Turkish Aegean University, Folklore and Folk Literature researcher.

Academician Kamal Abdulla, Rector of AUL, Academician Mukhtar Imanov, Head of the Department of Azerbaijani Literature, Adil Babayev, Head of the Department of Azerbaijani Linguistics, as well as academic staff and students participated in the workshop.

Professor Fikret Turkmen informed teachers and students about the science of Sufism, its history, its connection with Islam, the origin of the Sufi testimony and the subtleties of this science.

Speaking after Fikret Turkmen’s lecture, Kamal Abdulla expressed his views on Sufism. The rector emphasized the friendship with Fikret Turkmen and the students’ attention to the scientific workshop.
