AUL Holds an Event to Mark 8 November – Victory Day
An event marking 8 November – Victory Day was held at Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) on 6 November.
Prior to the event, AUL Rector, Academician Kamal Abdulla, met with students at the university whose parents had been martyred, and enquired about their studies and any concerns they might have. Emphasising that attention and support for the families of martyrs are among the key priorities of state policy, the Rector stated that the university administration would always stand by them.
The event was attended by family members of martyrs, war veterans, academic and teaching staff, and students.
The national anthem was performed at the beginning of the event.
The memory of the martyrs who laid down their lives for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty was honoured with a minute of silence.
Opening the event, AUL Rector, Academician Kamal Abdulla, stated that 8 November – Victory Day represents the triumph of our people’s national unity, solidarity and unwavering determination.
It was noted that the heroism demonstrated by the Azerbaijani Army during the 44-day Patriotic War showed the whole world the determination, unity and resolve of our people in the struggle to liberate their lands.
In his address, the Rector emphasised that, alongside military strength, the purposeful policies and diplomatic efforts of the state had played a crucial role in securing this historic victory.
It was highlighted that the political course established by National Leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev had made a significant contribution to strengthening Azerbaijan’s international standing, safeguarding its national interests and enhancing the country’s military and economic potential. It was precisely as a result of this consistent and purposeful policy that Azerbaijan liberated its historic lands from occupation and restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Addressing the students, the Rector noted that the youth of Azerbaijan are among the greatest legacies entrusted to us by National Leader Heydar Aliyev. He emphasised that young people bear responsibility for the country’s future and must remain committed to national and moral values, develop their knowledge and skills, and contribute to Azerbaijan’s progress.
Aytac Isgandarova, a first-year student at the university and daughter of martyr Niyamaddin Isgandarov, then spoke about her father's heroism in defence of the Motherland and shared her memories of him. She stated that, as the child of a martyr, she was aware of the responsibility she carried and emphasised her determination to work hard to become a worthy citizen of her country, receive a good education and grow into a daughter worthy of her father's memory.
The event continued with an artistic performance presented by university students.
As part of the programme, musical and artistic performances dedicated to the Motherland, heroism and the history of Victory were presented.
