07 november, 2018

On November 7, Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) hosted a celebration event dedicated to the 9th of November National Flag Day. The rector of the University, academician Kamal Abdulla, said in his speech that the tricolor flag adopted during the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was once again raised by the great leader Heydar Aliyev during the Soviet era in Nakhchivan: “Indeed, flag once raised will never go down” proofed its meaning. The Great Leader’s love of Azerbaijan was so great that at the time when the Soviet state was still extremely capable, Nakhchivan’s small minority rebelled against the USSR. At the time when the Great Leader headed the National Assembly of Nakhchivan, the flag of the USSR was lowered in Nakhchivan and the tricolor flag of Azerbaijan was national symbol. This courageous step of the great leader was, of course, a step to be written in the world history”.

The rector K.Abdulla added that the celebration of the State Flag Day stems from the decree issued by President Ilham Aliyev, who fulfills the ideas of the great predecessor. Describing the flag as a fate of people living in Azerbaijan, the rector stressed that there are our ancestors who sacrificed their lives for this flag. Rector K.Abdulla noted that the love of the flag is always in the hearts and congratulated the participants on the occasion of the National Flag Day.

Then the artistic part of the event began. Students of the University performed different music and dance shows.
