The round table on “110th anniversary of academician Heydar Huseynov’s birth” was held at the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) jointly organized by “Caucasian Studies”, “Philosophy and Social Sciences” departments and “Azerbaijani Studies ETL”.

Professor Asgar Zeynalov, the head of Caucasian Studies Department, delivered his lecture on “Life and activity of Heydar Huseynov”. He noted that H.Huseynov was the author of more than 100 scientific articles. He added that Heydar Huseynov is conducting serious research on Nizami Ganjavi, Abbasgulu agha Bakikhanov, Mirza Fatali Akhundov, Hasan bey Zardabi, Fuzuli and other great personalities. He noted that H.Huseynov wrote books on “Dialectics and metaphysics”, “Dialectial and historical materialism”, which is considered one of the first philosophy textbooks in Azerbaijan.

Kamala Yusifova, a senior teacher of the department of philosophy and social sciences, made a report entitled “Students of Heydar Huseynov’s School”. She spoke about the great services of Heydar Huseynov in the development of history and philosophy science and stressed that his scientific activity gave a powerful impetus to the development of philosophy in Azerbaijan.

Solmaz Rustamova- Tohidi, a leading researcher at ETL in Azerbaijan, said Heydar Huseynov was a bright representative of Azerbaijan’s Soviet science.  She said that Mirza Fatali Akhundov’s heritage researcher H.Huseynov is the author of articles and scientific researches that are of great importance in the formation of philosophers and historians.

At the end of the meeting, exchange of opinions on the activities of academician Heydar Huseynov was held.
