Famous Russian writer and playwright Yuri Polyakov was a guest of AUL.

Famous Russian writer, poet, playwright, cinematographer and public figure Yuriy Polyakov was guest of the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) on September 24.

Rector of AUL, ANAS acting member Kamal Abdulla said that Yuri Polyakov is pleased to see him at the university: “The teachers and students of the Azerbaijan University of Languages have been waiting for a long time for his meeting with the writer. Premiere of performance “Classmates” on the basis of the same play of Yuri Polyakov took place at the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theater yesterday. We appreciate everyone who contributed to this performance. I want to congratulate our guest on the next success”.

Rector Kamal Abdulla said that plays on the basis of the dramatist’s works were also performed on other various theater scenes. The head of the educational institution said that many people benefit from the creativity of Y.Polyakov in their scientific activity.

Writer-dramatist Yuri Polyakov said he was pleased to be at AUL and share his ideas. He shared his impressions of the performance at the Azerbaijan National Drama Theater. The writer talked about the work, as well as other literary processes. He also talked about Russian writers, issues that concern them, and the difficulties in this area. Y.Polyakov shared his impressions on noticeable moments in Russian literature, and in the translation literature, as well.

Etimad Bashkevich translated Y.Polyakov’s “Classmates” into Azerbaijani and spoke about the translation process.

During the meeting, the author presented his books to the Azerbaijan University of Languages. The guest then answered the questions of the roundtable participants.

Yuri Polyakov, a laureate of the Order of Friendship, Honor, and Services to the Homeland, is the chairman of the Editorial Board of the “Literaturaya Gazeta”, a member of the Union of Russian Writers, Chairman of the Public Council under the RF Ministry of Culture and Chairman of the Russian Dramatist Guild. His numerous novels, narratives and plays had great success among readers, films and soap operas, plays were made based on these works.
