An Event Titled “Folklore Yesterday And Today: Nowruz Traditions” Was Held AT AUL.

An event titled “Folklore yesterday and today: Nowruz Traditions” was organized by the Academic Research Laboratory of Comparative Folklore and Chair of Azerbaijani Literature at the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) on March 13.

The Head of the Academic Research Laboratory of Comparative Folklore, Associate Professor Hamida Aliyeva said that Nowruz symbolizes the arrival of the summer, it is the spring holiday of our people, which passed through the centuries and passed to generations: “The main purpose of this event is to teach foreign students studying at our university national and moral values of our people through dances, poems, to create a wonderful impression on the traditions of Nowruz. We also demonstrate that our people value this holiday and celebrate each year as a holiday of peace, with such attributes as throwing caps, playing eggs, season and ceremonial songs”.

Director of ANAS Folklore İnstitute, Head of the Azerbaijani Literature Chair of the Azerbaijan State University, academician Mukhtar Imanov said that Nowruz is a national holiday and important folklore event. He spoke about Nowruz Holiday both in mythological and ethnographic terms, gave detailed information about the holiday philosophy and reconciliation mission.

At the end, students of the Faculty of Philology and Journalism presented musical-literary composition accompanied by the ensemble “Gorgud” of ANAS Folklore Institute.
