On March 15-16, Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) hosted events dedicated to Nowruz holiday. The events held at both educational buildings of AUL had an informative character on the history, traditions and attributes of Nowruz holiday, which our nation celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy each year.

During the art section of the event held at the University Hall, students performed a concert program.

Professor Afgan Abdullayev, AUL Vice- Rector for Educational Affairs, said Nowruz holiday was one of the favorite holidays of our people since centuries, and congratulated the professor-teachers and students of the university on the holiday and wished them good luck. A. Abdullayev said that Nowruz holiday is very ancient holiday, adding that every nation celebrating Nowruz has created a special season and ceremonial songs dedicated to this holiday, harmonious with ethnic, local and national features.

Tables decorated in holiday style, as well as stands reflecting the state attributes were demonstrated at the event. The university management, including the University of Würzburg and AUL professor, the head of the Osvold Foundation Volkenstein Society, the head of the German Institute of German Studies Sieglinde Hartmann, visited the stands.

The chairs and centers functioning at the University participated in the “Nowruz Khonchasi” competition and presented their Nowruz gifts. The University Trade Union Association organized a festive table for students and teachers as well as for students living in AUL’s hostel.

Students also organized a charity fair. The organizers of the charity fair distributed the collected fund to the students.
