A seminar on student welfare and psychological health was held at Azerbaijan University of Languages
On April 23, an educational seminar titled “Student Welfare and Psychological Health” was organized at the Azerbaijan University of Languages (ADU) by the Department of Foreign Language Teaching Methodology and the Strategic Development and Planning Department within the framework of the 2025–2026 academic year Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The main aim of the event was to strengthen students’ psychological well-being and provide them with practical knowledge and skills in stress management and emotional resilience.
At the opening session, Head of the Department of Foreign Language Teaching Methodology, Associate Professor Sevinc Huseynova, Head of the Strategic Development and Planning Department, Senior Lecturer Roya Aliyeva, and Chair of the Student Scientific Society (SSS), Associate Professor Durra Hashimova, spoke about the relevance of the topic.
In her speech, Roya Aliyeva highlighted the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their contribution to student well-being. She noted that this direction is particularly significant within SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 4: Quality Education. She emphasized that students’ psychological health is a key factor in their academic success and overall well-being, and therefore the development of psychological support services and awareness-raising activities is considered a priority at the university.
Invited psychologists Bənövşə Huseynova and Gunel Quliyeva delivered presentations on topics including the importance of psychological health and student well-being, emotional resilience and self-expression skills, overcoming toxic positivity, and accepting and managing difficult emotions.
During the seminar, common student-related issues such as stress, exam anxiety, and burnout syndrome were discussed, along with their causes and risk factors.
The event was attended by Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Philology Ilaha Aliyeva, Head of the Department of Azerbaijani Linguistics Farah Niftaliyeva, Head of the Department of English Stylistics Aytan Hajiyeva, and Head of the Department of European Languages Shamsinur Aslanova, who actively participated in the discussions.
