On June 14, the rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), Academician Kamal Abdulla met with a delegation of the University of George Washington of the United States attending the symposium "International Education Week-2017".

Welcoming the guests, rector K.Abdulla spoke them about the university. The rector said that he is familiar with the work done by the network of Education leaders, reminded that he has visited the University of George Washington, and shared his memories. He spoke about the activities of the American Center at AUL. "We would have to get the Azerbaijani Culture Center in your university" –K.Abdulla said and spoke about the policy of multiculturalism in the country. He invited the visitors to the summer and winter schools about multiculturalism: "Welcome to the Azerbaijan multicultialism!"

Speaking of the activities of the departments at the university, the rector noted that teaching and research directions harmoniously complement each other.

Expressing his gratitude for warm reception dean of School of Education and Human Development of the University of George Washington Michael Feurer said that they are interested in working with AUL.

Later, representatives of the University of George Washington visited Information Resource Center (IRC).

In her opening speech, the US Embassy Cultural Affairs Officer Amy Petersen welcomed the guests and thanked the university administration for receiving the delegation.

 In his speech, the rector K.Abdulla said teachers and students of AUL were familiar with the University of George Washington, and this higher education institution is famous in the world, he added. He said, "We would like to deepen cooperation with you," and this event is important for Azerbaijan and the United States education system, he said. The rector expressed hope for further development of cooperation between the universities.

Dean of the School of Education and Human Development of the University of  George Washington Michael Feurer expressed his pleasure to be at AUL. He spoke about the history of the university, the university education system, gave detailed information about the learning process. M. Feurer "We believe that the desire to open Center of Azerbaijani Culture at the University of George Washington will not be only desire" the result of cooperation will be achieved, he said.

The event was followed by a networking session.
