Awareness Event “Under the Same Sky” Held at AUL
An awareness event titled “Under the Same Sky” was held at Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) on April 2, on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day.
The event was organized by Gunay Seyidova, senior lecturer at the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy and specialist of the SIP department, together with students of group 256 A/B from the Faculty of Philology.
The main goal of the event was to increase awareness about autism spectrum disorder, promote an atmosphere of understanding and support for individuals with differences in society, advocate inclusive values, and strengthen social sensitivity.
The event was attended by Associate Professor Aynur Budagova, Dean of the Faculty of Philology; Associate Professor Irana Mammadli, Head of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy under the Faculty of Education; Roya Aliyeva, Head of the SIP department; as well as lecturers from the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy.
As part of the event, students prepared and presented social video clips, awareness presentations, creative works related to the topic, and interview-style speeches dedicated to autism. The materials highlighted the integration of individuals with autism into society, the importance of fostering a sensitive and supportive attitude toward them, as well as the significance of inclusive education and social acceptance.
The video clips and interviews further enriched the content of the event, allowing the emotional and social aspects of the topic to be conveyed more effectively to the audience. The students’ approach clearly reflected a sense of social responsibility, empathy, and an awareness-raising perspective.
The speakers emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering social sensitivity among young people and promoting an inclusive society.
In her speech, Associate Professor Aynur Budagova noted that such awareness events contribute not only to students’ academic development but also to the formation of humanistic and social values. She highly appreciated the students’ creative and responsible approach to the topic.
Associate Professor Irana Mammadli stated that autism is an important social issue requiring a more sensitive and informed approach from society. She emphasized that the students’ initiative in this direction is highly commendable.
Roya Aliyeva, Head of the SIP department, pointed out that socially oriented projects like this play a significant role in developing students’ civic engagement, sense of social responsibility, and public activity. She praised the educational impact of the event.
At the end of the event, the guests highly appreciated the students’ initiative, social sensitivity, and creative approach, expressing positive opinions about their work.
The “Under the Same Sky” event was not only dedicated to World Autism Awareness Day but also reflected important messages promoting an inclusive and equitable society within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals.
