Employees of the Confucius Institute operating at the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) met with Vice President of the Azerbaijan Table Tennis Federation Sabuhi Mehdizadeh and head coach of the table tennis team Mikhail Timofeyev.

Director of the Confucius Institute, Professor Rafig Abbasov spoke about the development of Azerbaijani-Chinese relations in the field of sports and state program on the development of table tennis in China. He underlined the importance of the agreement signed between the Olympic Committee of China and the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan during the official visit of President Ilham Aliyev to China in the field of bilateral sports cooperation.

Mehdizadeh spoke about the achievements of the national team in international competitions, including the participation of Azerbaijani Table Tennis Federation and Chinese tennis masters.

 Later, the sides exchanged views on the prospects of development of table tennis in Azerbaijan, the involvement of students in this sport, introduction of Chinese experience, as well as exchange of qualified staff, joint scientific seminars on sports, as well as joint training and friendly games.
