Scientific-Practical Seminar Held at AUL
A scientific-practical seminar titled “Experimental-Phonetic Analysis of Language Material (Based on Computer Programs)” was held by Jamil Babayev, Associate Professor of the Department of General Linguistics at Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) and PhD in Philology.
The report addressed issues such as the preparation of language material for experiments (its volume, conditions, and relevance to the objectives of experimental-phonetic analysis), the selection of speakers participating in the experiment, obtaining acoustic parameters of language material through oscillographic analysis in the “PRAAT” computer program, and the linguistic interpretation of the obtained acoustic results based on existing theoretical provisions.
At the same time, the report provided detailed information about the purpose of spectrographic analysis of language material (analysis by formants) and oscillographic analysis, oscillographic representations of individual speech sounds, and the determination of parameters such as time, intensity, and the frequency of the fundamental tone.
It was noted that the report was prepared on the basis of visual examples.
