A presentation of the book "Azerbaijan multiculturalism" was held at AUL

Presentation of the book "Azerbaijan multiculturalism" was held on July 14 by the Baku International Multiculturalism Center at Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL).

Rector of AUL, chairman of the Board of Trustees of Baku International Multicultural Center, Academician Kamal Abdulla said that multiculturalism is one of the main directions of state policy in our country. It was noted that in modern times Azerbaijan is one of the example states in the field of regulation of ethnic and cultural diversity in society. Representatives of different religions live in peace and fraternity in our country. The values of multiculturalism in Azerbaijan are promoted in education, the press and the public. The atmosphere of religious and cultural diversity is protected at the state level and Azerbaijan has achieved great successes in this area. The basis of these achievements was laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev and currently multiculturalism policy by President Ilham Aliyev is being successfully implemented in our country. The announcement of 2016 as the Year of Multiculturalism in Azerbaijan by the relevant order of the Head of State is a manifestation of special attention to this issue in our country.

Abdulla noted that for two years already in the 15 universities of Europe the course "Azerbaijan multiculturalism" is taught. One of the main conditions for the successful learning of the subject is the preparation of the textbook. Taking into account the above mentioned necessity, the "Plan of Actions on the Announcement of the Year of Multiculturalism in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2016", approved by the decree of the Head of State, dated March 11, 2016, "has been prepared and published. The book has been prepared by Baku International Center for Multiculturalism with joint efforts of thirty well-known scholars on Azerbaijan's history, literature, philosophy, law, psychology, modern politics, language, ethnography and international relations. This textbook is the first material that is systematically and scientifically presented by the multiculturalism model of Azerbaijan.

Professor Etibar Najafov, Academician Teymur Karimli, deputy chairman of the State Committee for Religious Associations Gunduz Ismayilov and other speakers said today that multiculturalism is being projected in our country from the perspective of politics and science. It was noted that multiculturalism in our country is aimed at preservation of science and cultural values. The book is a valuable source for students and teachers in the study of Azerbaijan's multiculturalism model, as well as a great contribution to educating the younger generation in this field.

Congratulating the authors of the book, Director of the Center for Cultural and Educational Relations of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Azerbaijan Ahmed Sami Elash, the Archbishop of the Russian Orthodox Church, Archbishop of the Russian Orthodox Church Alexander Ata spoke about the multiculturalism policy successfully implemented in Azerbaijan and said that representatives of different religions live in good conditions.

"Azerbaijan multiculturalism" textbook,  the editorial staff are Academician Kamal Abdulla and Professor Etibar Najafov, is intended for those who are interested in the course of "Azerbaijan multiculturalism" at the local and foreign universities, as well as those, who are interested in the actual issues of Azerbaijan's multiculturalism model.
