Azerbaijan-China summer camp is functioning at AUL

Azerbaijani-Chinese linguocultural camp for teenagers who want to communicate with their peers from China and improve their Chinese language skills is functioning under the Confucius Institute, which operates at the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL). Camp enables learning Chinese language and calligraphy, serving Chinese culture, art and traditions as well as giving teenagers a chance to try themselves in various events and competitions and gain new friends.

 Excursions for camp participants include excursions to the historical sights of Azerbaijan, as well as cultural and entertaining events, musical performances. Azerbaijani and Chinese teens are actively involved in Chinese painting, paper cutting, tea ceremonies, and compete with each other in the traditional Chinese game, the Madzian.

Rector of AUL, Honored Scientist, and full member of ANAS Kamal Abdulla met with camp participants. During the meeting,K. Abdulla wished the teens good luck and expressed his hope that our new Chinese friends would inform their peers about the ancient history and culture of Azerbaijan, which has been closely connected with China through the Great Silk Road since ancient times.

During the meeting, Director of the Confucius Institute at AUL, Professor Rafig Abbasov spoke about the important role of Azerbaijan in transit between China and Europe and the creation of the Trans-Caspian international transport route. The Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and China, signed during President Ilham Aliyev's official visit to China in 2015, he underlined the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding on joint promotion of the establishment of the "Silk Road Economic Zone" between the Government of the People's Republic of China.

An event titled "Azerbaijan and the 21st Century Sea Silk Road" dedicated to the "Sea Day" was held as part of the camp. It should be noted that this holiday was established in honor of the great naval military-trade expeditions of China's prominent traveler and diplomat Chen Keen.

Camp teachers also attended the International Dolma Festival in Khachmaz, where they demonstrated the tsunami and tea ceremony art of national dish made of rice and bamboo leaves.

Certificates and souvenirs were presented to the camp participants.
