Event Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of İsmixan Rəhimov Held at AUL

On March 5, 2026, a commemorative event celebrating the 100th anniversary of the prominent scholar and educator, Professor İsmixan Rəhimov, was held in the auditorium of Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL). The event was organized by the Department of Theory and Practice of German Language Translation of the Faculty of Translation, the Department of English-French Languages, the Department of English Grammar, and the Student Scientific Society.

The purpose of the event was to recall the scientific and pedagogical contributions of this outstanding scholar, highlight his impact on Azerbaijani science and education, and transmit his rich legacy to the younger generation.

The event opened with a welcoming speech by the Rector of AUL, academician Kamal Abdullayev, who spoke about İsmixan Rəhimov’s important position in the history of Azerbaijani science and education. He noted that the scholar played a key role in the development of national science not only through his research but also through the students and followers he trained.

Following the official opening, a 12-minute fragment of the documentary film “Travelers of the Lightning Path,” dedicated to İsmixan Rəhimov’s life and work, was screened. The film was written and directed by Honored Cultural Worker Müsəllim Həsənov and showcased the scholar’s life, scientific achievements, and personal recollections about him.

Renowned scholars and educators shared their reflections on İsmixan Rəhimov’s scientific legacy. Professor Qılıncxan Bayramov spoke about Rəhimov’s pedagogical work and his close relationships with students.

Associate Professor Fiala Abdullayeva and Senior Lecturer Yusif Savalan emphasized in their presentations that the scholar’s research directions continue to retain their relevance in contemporary times. Professor Şəhla Nağıyeva provided detailed insights into Rəhimov’s role in shaping his scientific school. Additionally, Müsəllim Həsənov spoke about the documentary’s production process and the archival materials used.

The program also featured presentations by students and young researchers. Fatimə Məmmədova presented information on Rəhimov’s birth and early childhood, Leyla Nəzərli discussed his pioneering period and formative years, Fəzilə Saniyeva covered his scientific contributions, and Aysun Lətifova spoke about the awards and recognitions he received.

During the artistic part of the event, Elyanora Babayeva recited a poem. Students Aytac Qaziyeva and Zərifə Rəhimova also delivered presentations on the scholar’s life and work.

In conclusion, it was noted that İsmixan Rəhimov’s rich scientific legacy continues to play a vital role in the development of Azerbaijani science and serves as a valuable example for future generations. The event was of significant importance in honoring his memory and promoting his scientific contributions.
