Roundtable and Practical Seminar on “Ethnic Style in the Modern Era” Held at AUL
A roundtable and practical seminar titled “Ethnic Style in the Modern Era” was held at Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL).
The event aimed to expand discussions on the preservation of national cultural heritage in the country and its application in the contemporary creative environment. In this regard, the topics raised during the event also align with the priority directions of the Azerbaijan Culture – 2040 Concept, which focuses on promoting national cultural heritage and developing creative industries.
The event began with an opening and welcoming speech by Vəfa Babayeva, Associate Professor and Dean of the Faculty of English and French at AUL. In her speech, she spoke about the importance of preserving national and cultural values and integrating them with modern aesthetic approaches, noting that ethnic style plays an important role in the visual expression of national identity.
This was followed by discussions on the topic. Sevil Kərimova, Vice-Rector of Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, PhD in Art Studies and Associate Professor, delivered a speech in which she shared her views on the application of ethnic motifs in the fields of art and design and their future development prospects. She emphasized that the use of national ornaments and elements of traditional clothing in modern design concepts contributes both to the preservation of cultural heritage and to the formation of new creative approaches.
At the event, Ləman Nəcəf, a lecturer at Khazar University and fashion designer, also spoke about the importance of applying national motifs in the fashion industry in the context of globalization. She noted that the synthesis of ethnic elements with modern design not only helps preserve national cultural heritage but also plays an important role in promoting it in the international fashion environment.
Within the framework of the roundtable and practical seminar, participants exchanged views on topics such as “The Aesthetic and Conceptual Content of Ethnic Style in the Modern Era,” “The Application of National Ornaments and Traditional Clothing Elements in Contemporary Design,” “Globalization and the Visual Expression of National Identity,” and “The Role and Prospects of Ethnic Motifs in the Fashion Industry.”
At the end of the event, a question-and-answer session was held, participants’ opinions were heard, and concluding discussions on the topic took place. It was noted that promoting national cultural heritage within the context of modern design and fashion makes a significant contribution to the development of creative industries, and that scientific and practical events held in this field serve to expand opportunities for future cooperation.
