Scientific Article by an AUL Professor Published in a Prestigious International Journal
A scientific article by Gunel Bayramova, Professor at the Department of Theory and Practice of Translation of Romance Languages at Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), has been published in a prestigious international journal.
The scholar’s study entitled “The Potential of Figurative Language in Italian and Azerbaijani: Idiomaticity and Semio-Cognitive Perspectives” has been published in an international academic journal indexed in the Scopus database and ranked in the Q2 quartile. The article is also available in the DOAJ database, an open-access scientific resources platform.
The research presents a comparative analysis of figurative language units in Italian and Azerbaijani, taking into account idiomaticity, cognitive semantics, and discursive context. The methodological approach employed by the author is based on principles of semiotics, cognitive linguistics, and historical-comparative linguistics, enabling the formulation of new academic findings related to language typology and the conceptualization of meaning.
The article analyzes selected examples from the works of classical representatives of Italian literature such as Dante and Petrarch, as well as prominent figures of Azerbaijani poetry including Fuzuli and Nasimi, within a functional and interpretative framework.
The study contributes to the development of new theoretical propositions in the fields of language typology, semantics, and cognitive modeling. The findings offer scholarly insights applicable not only to Romance and Turkological studies, but also to modern language teaching and translation methodology.
This publication is an indicator of the growing international recognition of linguistic research conducted at Azerbaijan University of Languages.
