A training session on “The Present Perfect and the Past Simple in Comparison” held at AUL

On December 12, Roya Abdurahmanova, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor and lecturer of English Grammar at the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), conducted a training session on the topic “The Present Perfect and the Past Simple in Comparison.”

The training was attended by the Head of the Department, Doctor of Philology, Professor Leyla Khanbutayeva; PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Khatira Suleymanova; Senior Lecturer Arzu Salimova; PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Aftab Hajizada; PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Sahila Mustafayeva, as well as other department staff members. Opening the event, Professor Leyla Khanbutayeva welcomed the participants and spoke about the importance of grammar in language learning. Students from the Faculties of English and French Languages as well as English and German Languages took part in the practical segment of the training as participants. Interactive teaching methods were successfully applied to grammar tasks encompassing listening, speaking, and writing skills.

Modern teaching approaches include the most effective and innovative methods for developing all aspects of language skills. By applying these methods during the training, the language learning process was made more active and interactive for students. Various multimedia and audio materials were used to enhance listening skills. Through tasks based on audio and visual sources aligned with real-life situations, students’ listening abilities were strengthened, while interactive listening activities and question-and-answer sessions further improved existing skills.

Classes conducted using modern teaching methods reinforce students’ language skills in all aspects and prepare them to use these skills more fluently and confidently in real-life situations. This approach increases students’ motivation and makes the learning process more engaging and effective.
