Gulbeniz Mazaim gizi Jamalova – Condolences
The Rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages, Academician Kamal Abdulla, and the university community express their deep sorrow over the passing of Associate Professor Gulbeniz Jamalova of the Department of Foreign Language Teaching Methodology and extend their heartfelt condolences with profound grief.
Gulbeniz Jamalova was born in 1963 in the Gazakh district. From 1982 to 1987, she studied at the Faculty of French Language of Azerbaijan University of Languages, graduating with honors. Since 1999, she had been teaching French at AUL. She was a prominent scholar, educator, and public figure who rendered exceptional services to the preservation, development, and promotion of the French language in Azerbaijan. For many years, she carried out academic and pedagogical activities at the Department of Foreign Language Teaching Methodology at Azerbaijan University of Languages, consistently and purposefully working toward the development of French language teaching in higher and secondary educational institutions.
Gulbeniz Jamalova demonstrated a principled stance in safeguarding and strengthening the teaching of French in schools and universities, always prioritizing awareness-raising and methodological support in this field. Her work at AUL made significant contributions to improving foreign language teaching methodology, applying modern approaches, and training qualified specialists.
She also served with great honor and responsibility as the founder and president of the Association of French Language Teachers in Azerbaijan (APFAZ). Within the framework of APFAZ, Gulbeniz Jamalova led numerous projects aimed at supporting the professional development of French language teachers, organizing their joint activities, and promoting the dissemination of the French language throughout the country.
She played an exceptional role in introducing and promoting the French language in Azerbaijan. The traditional “Village Français” event, implemented on her initiative and with her active participation, held great significance in promoting the French language and Francophone culture.
We have lost a valued scholar, a devoted educator, and a true intellectual. This great loss deeply saddens us.
