A round table dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of world-renowned surgeon and academician Mustafa Topchubashov was held at Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), organized by the Faculty of Education. The event was held in accordance with Decree No. 622 of June 10, 2025, signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, “On the Celebration of the 130th Anniversary of Academician Mustafa Topchubashov.”

The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Associate Professor Firuza Rzayeva; Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, Associate Professor Həqiqət Hajiyeva; Associate Professor Salman Nuriyev; as well as professors and teaching staff.

At the round table, Professor Asgar Zeynalov of the Department of Foreign Languages in Education delivered an extensive presentation, providing detailed information about the life and work, scientific and public activities of Academician Mustafa Topchubashov. It was noted that M. Topchubashov was born in Yerevan, one of the ancient cultural centers of Azerbaijanis, graduated from the Yerevan Gymnasium with a gold medal, and studied at the Faculty of Medicine of Kyiv University. Despite experiencing a life of deportation, he made significant contributions to medical science, went down in history with the discovery of analgesia, was elected one of the first academicians of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences, served as Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic, was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor, and authored fundamental works in the field of medicine.

Within the framework of the event, presentations were also made on the scientific activity, scholarship, and human qualities of the late Professor Gulnar Huseynzade, a representative of the Topchubashov family and a prominent scholar in the field of foreign language methodology.

The round table was of great significance in promoting the rich scientific legacy of Academician Mustafa Topchubashov and his contributions to the development of Azerbaijani science.
